... but this is pretty cool...
26 - Sean Sunday, January 20, 2002 N/A (128.194.4.253 ) http://gamespot.com/gamespot/features/video/hov/q.html Gotta get me one of these |
25 - Sean Tuesday, January 15, 2002 N/A (128.194.4.253 ) THen may it burn with the rest of Apple's curses upon the world. |
23 - Sean Tuesday, January 15, 2002 N/A (128.194.4.253 ) Does it have dvd-rw? If so Id say thats not too bad, except for the fact that its an imac. |
22 - Mark Tuesday, January 15, 2002 N/A (67.210.30.105 ) Apple makes dual processor configs still (at least, they did as of a couple months ago), but OSX multi-processor support is um bad, so it isn't worth it. |
20 - Ochs Monday, January 14, 2002 N/A (128.83.128.89 ) hehe.. tru.. I know dat.. I mean I know and was implying exactly what you said... hehe.. but was too lazy to type it and kinda figured you would be the only one really reading it..lol I think apple still makes a dual g4 800 MHz config. They did just a few months ago. Lataz! |
19 - Oliver Monday, January 14, 2002 [email protected] (IP Hidden ) Ah... 1.6GHz P4... that's not too impressive... about equiv. to Athlon 1.3GHz or 1.4GHz I think... Aw, Ochs, you should know that two 1GHz != 2GHz hehe ;) It depends on the application... if it's very well multi-processor compatible, than a dual 1GHz would kick butt out of the 2GHz... but for some other applications, 2GHz would be much faster... I don't believe Apple makes any dual configs anymore too... used to, but not at the moment (?) So... yeah, I'd still say it's way too pricey ($1800) for what you get... even factoring in the CD-RW/DVD-R drive... |
18 - Ochs Monday, January 14, 2002 N/A (129.116.19.53 ) I believe I recall hearing that a motorola G4 with a 800MHz clock speed is approximatly equal to an intel-based processor with a clock speed of 1600MHz or 1.6GHz. Roughly double the clock speed of a PPC chip and you have the equivalent intel chip. Now... imagine Apple's dual 800MHz...hmmmm 3.2GHz...not sure on that one but I am quite sure the setup kicks butt! |
17 - Oliver Monday, January 14, 2002 [email protected] (IP Hidden ) Well, PowerPCs do do more instructions per cycle (IPC) than Intel and AMD chips... but I'm not sure what the equivalent is to a 800MHz PowerPC... Athlons have a higher IPC than Pentium IV's though (thus AMD going with ratings, ie. 1500+, 1600+, etc.) |
16 - Wes Monday, January 14, 2002 N/A (152.163.207.51 ) It's like 800 megahertz, but it is touted to be faster than any pentium, because there is some myth regarding megahertz, or as is the case now, gigahertz. But they do not compare it with any AMD processors...pah. |
14 - Wes Saturday, January 12, 2002 N/A (152.163.197.183 ) I'm getting a tax return soon that will be like a thousand bucks. I will build a computer, I think. But probably not one which is that thing....despite the inherent coolness. It's still an imac. The only thing I could want one for is art, video, and song editing......wait...that's what i use THIS computer for! |
13 - alex Friday, January 11, 2002 N/A (24.27.34.116 ) yes.... today we have a breakthrough in computing ergonomics due to the development of a new technology based off the desktop lamp. and i believe steve jobs was quoted saying stuff like "and wow, it moves with just the slightest touch of the hand, and notice, the lcd stays parallel to the user when adjusted." interesting. |
12 - Oliver Thursday, January 10, 2002 [email protected] (IP Hidden ) Heh "1337"... such a funny "word" =) |
11 - Oliver Thursday, January 10, 2002 [email protected] (IP Hidden ) 'Course, you could build a very 1337 computer and get a spiffy looking LCD monitor for $1500 - $1800... |
10 - Wes Thursday, January 10, 2002 N/A (152.163.207.51 ) I was gonna post about that thing. I want one, if only for it's wierdness.... |
9 - Sean Wednesday, January 9, 2002 N/A (216.30.71.6 ) I do want a dvd burner though. That would be nice. |
8 - Brook Wednesday, January 9, 2002 N/A (24.27.16.194 ) My question is, what flavour is it and can you scratch and sniff like the imacs? |
6 - Oliver Wednesday, January 9, 2002 [email protected] (IP Hidden ) And I think the cost ranges from around $1300 - $1800... or something like that... the LCD is 15" |
5 - Oliver Wednesday, January 9, 2002 [email protected] (IP Hidden ) I think the base is almost a foot in diameter... |
3 - Suneet Wednesday, January 9, 2002 [email protected] (152.163.204.194 ) How much is this thing? It looks like I can fold it and throw in my backpack. hehe... |
2 - Minix Wednesday, January 9, 2002 N/A (24.27.51.45 ) ahahahhh..... neatttttt...... maybe I should buy a mac... |
