Alrighty, I was just wondering... the song "Hanging by a Moment" by Lifehouse, what's it mean to you? I mean, what's your interpretation of that song? =)

Just wonderin ^.^ I'm sorry, this is a weird topic and stuff, but it invovles some FEED BACK ^.^

Wow, quite possible you all are right, I've just never looked at it that way. I guess because many of their songs are guy/girl things. I mean, I know they're supposedly a Christian band. But whenever I see them or read stuff about them (interviews, etc.) they explain their songs and they're about girls and stuff. Of course, they were songs I don't know, not Hanging but a moment. What Olivia wrote verse by verse makes sense.

I'm a bit bored... here's my sorta "line by line" interpretation:

"Desperate for changing, Starving for truth"
He wants to change and know the truth (God)

"I'm closer to where I started - I'm chasing after you"
He's becoming a stronger Christian, striving to be closer and closer to God ("chasing")

"I'm falling even more in love with you - Letting go of all I've held onto"
Falling more in love with God, letting go of the worldy/sinful things that hold him back from God.

"I'm standing here until you make me move"
He's "standing here" ready to do what God asks him to do.

"I'm hanging by a moment here with you"
I could come up with a couple different things for this one... but right now, I'm thinking it might be: he's holding on to life ("hanging") because of each "moment" he's with God.

"Forgetting all I'm lacking - Completely incomplete"
He's lacking and "incomplete" without God, but God completes him and makes him "[forget] all [he's] lacking".

"I'll take your invitation - You take all of me"
He accepts God into life - turns his life over to Him("take all of me").

...

"I'm living for the only thing I know"
He's living because he knows God and knows God loves him.

"I'm running and I'm not quite sure where to go And I don't know what I'm diving into"
He's following what God tells him, although he's not sure where exactly it will lead him in life and what it will lead him to do, or struggles he will face, etc.

"There's nothing else to lose
There's nothing else to find
There's nothing in the world
That could change my mind "
That's kinda self-explan. I guess... =)

The whole song could be viewed as a guy/girl thing as well, I could write that whole thing up there in that point of view... I just like it the way I view it more. =)

Wow, all good analysis's (whatever the correct word there would be) anyway, I picture it as a guy girl thing, but I also picture it as a God/guy-girl thing... heres my problem though with that picture,

The guy's a christian, so I've heard... yet from the song, I get the picture that he needs proof, "Standing here until you make me move." and "Starving for truth", makes me think he's looking for something more...

That's just my opinion

It fits Chris... and that verse you said reminded me of a song... it's called the Greatest Command.. "Love one another, for love is of God, he who loves is born of God and knows God... he who does not know, does not know God, for God is love, God is love" Then it has all these other parts to it. heh, Ive told Olivia my interp before, or rather, the interp this guy gave me which stuck with me. It's about life. The guy's troubled, he's "running and not quite sure where to go" etc, The guy has issues he cant resolve, and he's "desperate for changing, and starving for truth"... when I think about it though, I think the guy who explained this to me IS on a subconcious search for God. how can he find it though if he's so troubled and doesnt know God? I John 4:17 (i think it is) "If you do not love you do not know God for God is love." so That's all I have to say about taht.........

My first thought of the song was that it was about God. But yeah, it could be about a guy and a girl but judging from what I've heard about the group Lifehouse, it's probably more so about God... yeah... like.. "desperate for changing" - person wants to change themselves - "starving for truth" - person wants to know more about life/God... that's just a little bit.. yeah

This guy who has been chasing this girl around because he loves her more and more all the time, but she won't admit it or she doesn't feel the same. She won't tell him anything about how she feels. So he's "standing there until you make me move"... until she tells him how she feels. But see, that's just from the chorus. I don't really know what to think about the verses.
